SCAI Autonomous VTuber Part 2

SCAI Autonomous VTuber Part 2

Before I got too into the development of this new feature I needed to know how a VTuber works. VTubers are so prevalent on streaming platforms now, it made sense to get my own to fully understand how they worked.

So, I surfed Fiverr and eventually found a artist and rigger that looked like they knew what they were doing. After a bit of back and forth with ideas ands modifications I eventually ended up with a fully rigged, half body VTuber you can see above.

I am really into Retrowave and love the Cyberpunk look so I went all in with that look as you can see.

Next thing I needed to do was actually stream and understand the mechanisms of it. I had some games I was overdue to play as part of another community so I got it all set up in VTube Studio, was quite intuitive and the app really talked me through what I needed to do to make sure the model worked on its platform.

I set up my source on OBS (game source) as that was the one I was told to use as part of the app to make sure it had a transparent background and I started streaming.

Three streams later, I am loving it. My webcam tracks everything, mouth movement, eye focus and head movement. However, it took me a little while to figure out how to switch between expressions. I had 3 as part of the bundle deal I got. It was only on my second stream I figured out that 1, 2 and 3 on the keyboard (not num pad) switched between them.

Honestly, I love it. I don't have to make and effort on my appearance before I go live (not that it was a pain, I can be lazy if I am streaming) and it is just fun and cool to look at.

Now that I mostly understand how it works, I need to now apply that to this new feature I am working on for you guys. Hopefully I can get something more than just a model that can move its mouth, maybe its head and eyes. We shall see.
